Ha Roda by Hue Chau
Donation protected
Our amazing Ngan Ha Roda passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024 at the age of 56 from lung cancer. Ha was preceded in death by her father, Tuong Nguyen. She is survived by her devoted husband, Christopher Roda, of 30 years, 2 children (Zephyr and Thaleia), mother, 6 siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be missed by all of us very much.
Ha was born May 5, 1968 in Saigon Vietnam. In July 1978, disguised as Chinese, Ha and her family fled Viet Nam on a 20-person fishing boat with 200 other refugees. From Ha’s My Journey to America, she stated, “My parents sacrifice their life time so that their children can succeed and have a better future… My wish is to live up to my parents’ expectations… My grave would say “There lived Ha Roda who lived the American dream and lived up to her parents’ expectations.”
Ha had endless energy, and she was at her best when she was working on multiple projects at once. She was an amazing mother, wife, sister, daughter, athlete, entrepreneur, writer, inventor, chef, and motivator. Ha never turned down a challenge may it be a new rock-climbing route or improving her interpreting skills. To beat the cancer, she tried alternative diets, alternative medicines, and multiple chemo pills while staying positive at every phase until the end. Ha’s long-time motto, “Keep moving forward with one baby step at a time” says it all.
Ha was determined, selfless, competitive, smart, kind, goofy, devoted, strong, loving, talkative, and more. Ha loved to organize and participate in family gatherings. She loved talking to strangers and often made lifetime friends of them. Her smile was contagious and full of love. Ha had the ability to make you feel like you are the only person in the room.
Ha’s funeral service will be on Saturday, June 29, 2024 and additional information is below:
