Supporting Heather

Last month, Heather was in a tragic car accident, resulting in some of the most horrific and traumatic injuries forever changing her life. Upon arrival at the hospital, Heather was immediately placed under a medically induced coma. Heather’s injuries included a double skull fracture, facial bone fracture, arm amputation, broken ulna/wrist, loss of most of her right ear and a great deal of road rash. Heather was on a ventilator for five days in the ICU.

After a very long and scary 16 days and six surgeries, the hospital approved Heather to be discharged to go home. Heather has a titanium plate in her head, plate and screws in her right hand, which is still in a cast, hearing challenges and sees double because of a six nerve palsy due to the head trauma she had suffered.

Heather continues to make significant progress under the care of MANY doctors, friends and family members. However, it’s a very long road ahead. From the time that Heather woke from her medically induced coma in the ICU, she has been nothing but optimistic and incredibly grateful to be alive. She feels beyond blessed to be here still and healing so amazingly fast.

I have created this fundraiser hoping that it will help lessen the stress of any medical bills or financial struggles that Heather might face along the way. Insurance is very unlikely to cover 100% of the cost when it comes to prosthetics. We want Heather to be able to focus on her continued healing and be under the best medical care going forward.
