Supporting James & Family thru his cancer journey

Life can be so unfair, and that is why I am reaching out for help on behalf of my best friend, Stefanie Watson and her 13-year-old son James.

James' cancer has sadly returned for the 4th time. The family thought they were out of the woods after James' 9-year-old sister Grace donated her bone marrow to him in March 2019. James was cancer free for 3 1/2 years.

What they thought was to be a routine checkup on Oct 27th, abnormal blood work showed up. They spent the night in Vancouver and James had an emergency bone marrow biopsy the following morning. The bone marrow biopsy showed leukemia cells, and over 70% of his bone marrow is now infected. The family is now with him in Vancouver as he undergoes palliative treatment.

As BC Children's Hospital has provided as much care as possible to extend James' time with his family, they will soon return to Prince George. Stefanie had just recently started a job with the Provincial Government. Because she was within her probationary period, there is no leave offered to her, and she has lost her position. She will be receiving Compassionate Care Benefits while providing James with palliative care, but these funds will not be enough to cover what her regular income does.

Everyone who knows James knows his love of cars, trucks, snowmobiles and of course his family. He has a beautiful soul, and it shows in everything he does. His sister Grace has always been his number one; they are the best of friends and support one another in times of need.

All help will go directly to Stefanie to help pay for rent, food, gas, and monthly bills that do not go away when life gets hard. This will allow them to spend as much quality time as they can together.

Stefanie is one of the strongest women I know who loves her children deeply. Anyone who knows Stef knows she has a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. Her children are a reflection of her kind and beautiful nature. They deserve our love and support, so please, if you can find it in your heart to give, you can ease some of their worries.
