Supporting Jillian's Recovery

On Tuesday, April 18, Jill woke up and began her day as she would on any typical Tuesday, teaching second grade in Arlington, VA. After returning to her apartment that evening, Jill called a friend complaining of a headache and intense neck pain/tension. Thinking a trip to urgent care was in order, that friend drove to Jill’s apartment but quickly called 911.

At 39 years old, Jill suffered a sudden, devastating hemorrhagic stroke. There were no warning signs. She spent 12 days in the ICU and 6 days on the Neuro floor at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. She is currently at INOVA Fairfax Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital receiving medical care and intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. While we are extremely grateful that Jill received immediate medical care, this was a catastrophic event and it will be a long road to recovery.
