Karen Mooney & Pam Rumancik

Our beloved Karen Mooney was diagnosed with cancer this past April. Her medical team believed they removed it all and that she was cancer free. However, in December, after experiencing pain, another tumor was found in her abdomen. She had surgery in January and will begin chemotherapy soon.  Karen and Pam are waiting to hear from the pathologist if the occurrences are related or not. During this same time period, Pam experienced her own health challenges as did both sets of their parents.  They supported their parents through aging and their complicated health issues until Pam's father passed, followed by her mother, and then Karen's mother this past spring. 

Our dear, sweet friends, Unitarian Universalist ministers and colleagues have experienced challenge after challenge, and yet, they remain grateful, humorous and open hearted. While we can't remove our friends' health challenges or shorten their grief journeys, we can collectively offer them financial support to create some breathing space while they make their way.  We can offer funds to help cover lost wages, medical expenses, an unexpected furnace replacement within a few days of Karen's recent surgery, and some padding to help them take good care of themselves in the midst of all they are holding.  No matter what or how we share with our friends. may they know they are surrounded by our love.
