Supporting Kash’s battle with Leukemia
Hi my name is Stefanie and I’m fundraising for my 6-year-old nephew Kash, who was just diagnosed with Leukemia on 8/13/21. Over a week ago, Kash began not feeling very well and started displaying symptoms of COVID-19 after learning a family member tested positive for the virus. He was short of breath on an outdoor hike, began feeling very lethargic, experienced a loss of appetite, and was eventually bed ridden. Kash was tested for COVID twice in a week’s time and returned negative results. After the negative results, blood tests were taken at Morris Hospital to try and determine why Kash was not getting any better. The results of the blood test showed that Kash’s hemoglobin and white blood cell count were both extremely low. The doctors at Morris Hospital quickly decided that Kash would need to be air lifted to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago to undergo further testing. On his air lift to the hospital Kash received the first of several blood transfusions in a 24 hour span.
After the doctor’s at Lurie’s performed their own tests, they confirmed the news every parent fears, and one that a child doesn’t deserve. Kash has Leukemia and will need to begin treatment right away. A lot of information is still being learned at this time, but Kash has a long road ahead full of tests and treatments to help defeat cancer. Kash received his first chemo treatment today and is currently undergoing bone marrow tests.
Unfortunately for cancer, Kash is a superhero who is going to kick cancer’s butt.
I’m setting up this page for Kash’s Mom (my sister) and Dad to help raise funds for the unexpected medical expenses that they are facing during this difficult time.
I will continue to update this page as more information becomes available and will also update everyone on his road to recovery.
If you are able to, donations in any amount are greatly appreciated. If not, simply sharing this page for Kash helps bring awareness to his situation and the situation that 3500 other children face every year. Leukemia is the most common type of cancer in children, and makes up a third of all pediatric cancer cases every year.
