The Restorative Justice field in the US and beyond is filled with sorrow and very heavy hearts as one of our own has suffered a very sudden and tragic loss.
Kris Miner Schweigert lost her husband, Brian, suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, July 15th. Funeral services are today (July 20) in South Dakota.
They shared a beautiful ranch near Kris' hometown of Gregory, SD, with beautiful grandchildren and many dreams for the property. Recently, Kris shared about the first wave of newborn lambs and horses and the joy of dreaming in a combination of trauma-informed work directly at their ranch. Her love of animals and belief in their ability to help humans heal is a central part of the dream that includes the ranch.
Kris has helped thousands of youth and adults through her tireless work in restorative justice, counseling, art and equine therapies, and more. She is a precious human being with a gigantic heart and a great amount of wisdom.
With Brian's sudden death, Kris is facing a heartbreaking uphill battle and this fundraising effort is meant to support her in funeral and burial expenses, in upkeep of the ranch--for example, hiring someone to support, and in general expenses she will have while continuing to grow her counseling and restorative justice services, which she has so dedicatedly offered for decades.

Kris' dedication to restorative justice over many, many years and decades includes a deep reverence for her mentors and teachers, and includes honoring her Indigenous teachers and perspectives, in how she works with people in the spoken and unspoken ways she presences healing and transformation, and a reverence for life. She is a very special and dear friend to hundreds, and a guide and coach to many. She founded Circle Space Services , a 501(c)3 Non Profit, to offer a range of services specific to restorative justice as well as counseling and art therapy, and inclusion of equine therapies most recently.
Please contribute anything you can to Kris by donating to this campaign. Molly Rowan Leach will ensure all donations get to Kris as soon as GoFundMe disburses (3-5 business days for disbursement). If you prefer, you can also go direct to Circle Space Services to contribute or send a check directly to her at:
841 Jackson Street, Suite C
Burke, SD 57523
Please join us in circling around Kris in her grief and loss, and in providing her the critically needed funding to remove at least a small part of the burden from her in this unthinkable time.
Love and gratitude.
