Supporting Lineth in Celebrating Raul's Life

It is with a heavy heart that we launch this fundraiser in support of our dear friend, Raul Mercado, who gained his wings on October 1, 2024.

Suffering from lifelong severe, untreated asthma due to a lack of consistent healthcare, Raul developed serious lung complications several weeks ago. On September 30th, he went into kidney failure and admitted himself to University Hospital. By the next morning, multiple organ failure, followed by a fatal heart attack, took our friend from us. He was 53 years old.

It’s difficult to remember a time when Raul hasn’t been a part of our lives. He has been a family friend for decades, always ready to lend a helping hand.

As a young man, Raul was friendly, outgoing, and patient. It still doesn’t feel real. May his family find healing in the knowledge that he is no longer in pain and is at peace. May his memory live on in those of us whose lives he touched and who had the fortune of knowing such a kind soul.

Raul is survived by his beloved wife, Lineth Mercado, and extended family.

Lineth now bears the sole burden of providing Raul with a worthy memorial service while grieving for her husband and best friend. It is on Lineth’s behalf that I humbly ask for any donations, if your spirit moves you to do so. No gift is too small and is greatly appreciated.

Lo hacemos con el corazón pesado al lanzar esta recaudación de fondos en apoyo a nuestro querido amigo, Raul Mercado, quien ganó sus alas el 1 de octubre de 2024.

Raúl, que sufrió de asma grave durante toda su vida y no se trató debido a la falta de atención médica constante, desarrolló graves complicaciones pulmonares hace varias semanas. El 30 de septiembre sufrió insuficiencia renal y ingresó en el Hospital Universitario. A la mañana siguiente, un fallo orgánico múltiple, seguido de un infarto mortal, nos arrebató a nuestro amigo.

Es difícil recordar un momento en el que Raul no haya sido parte de nuestras vidas. Ha sido un amigo de la familia durante décadas, siempre dispuesto a ayudar.

De joven, Raul era amigable, extrovertido y paciente. Aún no parece real. Que su familia encuentre sanación en el conocimiento de que ya no sufre y está en paz. Que su memoria viva en aquellos de nosotros cuyas vidas tocó y que tuvimos la fortuna de conocer a un alma tan bondadosa.

Raul deja atrás a su amada esposa, Lineth Mercado, y a su familia extendida.

Lineth ahora lleva la carga de proporcionar a Raul un servicio memorial digno mientras llora por su esposo y mejor amigo. En nombre de Lineth, humildemente pido cualquier donación, si su espíritu se siente movido a hacerlo. Ningún regalo es demasiado pequeño y es muy apreciado.
