Supporting Lorraine & Her Heart Surgery

In the beginning of 2021, Lorraine was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse, causing regurgitation and left ventricular hypertrophy. (In layman's terms, this means she has a heart valve that does not properly close.)

On July 26, 2021, she had open-heart surgery at St. Peters Hospital for the repair of the valve. A long recovery and 10 weeks later, she has now been informed the surgery was unsuccessful, with imaging that shows zero improvement.

Lorraine is being referred to Dr. David Adams at Mount Sinai in NYC. Dr. Adams is a specialist in the repair of heart valves, even specifically specializing in the mitral valve.

We are hoping this page will help alleviate expenses, including many trips to NYC for her appointments. Lorraine has also already acquired medical bills from her first unsuccessful surgery, and we are unsure at this time how much, if any, will be covered by her health insurance, pending she is a candidate for Dr. Adam's procedure.

Our Mom, Mother-In-Law, Nana, Sister and matriarch to our family, is immensely important to us. Lorraine is our biggest supporter and it's now time to return the favor.
