Support Luís-Eberto's Family

Hi, I'm the partner of the Luís-Eberto's eldest child and I am raising money to help the family with their expenses. I, the fundraiser runner, am a grad student in the UK, but those in need are located in Quindío, Colombia.

On December 13th, 2023, Luís-Eberto was killed due to the nature of his work as a human rights lawyer. In his efforts to protect those less fortunate in a small town, this community leader was targeted. The town is very much feeling the loss of Eberto (known lovingly by the community as 'El Profe') presence as he was running for local office, taught for free at local universities and took up pro-bono cases.

Luís-Eberto is leaving behind his 3 children and his wife who are now faced not only with mourning but an insurmountable amount of debt. With all of the kids being of college age, and having been the breadwinner, his family needs help with being able to breathe again under all this weight. Due to the unforeseen situation, there was an understandable lack of planning for such an event. The life insurance left behind hardly puts a dent in what is owed, leading to the eldest child leaving their graduate school program to aid his family and the other siblings' future educational prospects in limbo.

For his family to be able to pay back what is owed and leave the area for Bogotá, where the maternal family resides, I am running this fundraiser to see if it is possible to put even the smallest dent in this pile.
