Supporting Mila’s cancer journey
Donation protected
We received some heartbreaking news on 1st September 2022. Mila our daughter/granddaughter/niece/cousin, who is nearly 4 years old, had a CT scan at Grimsby hospital following difficulty with the movement of her right side. This showed a tumour and cyst taking up the whole left side of her brain. Following this, she was transferred to Sheffield Children’s Hospital where she had brain surgery on 7th September to remove this. She made a very good recovery from this and was discharged 5 days following surgery. On 27th September we returned for a wound check, however, they gave us the results from the brain tumour. More devastating news that she was diagnosed with a grade 3 Ependymoma, which is an aggressive, fast growing malignant tumour, although it was confirmed that it was all removed, there is a very high chance it could return, her treatment will consist of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. There are 2 types of radiotherapy, conventional or proton therapy. Proton therapy is fairly new and only 2 hospitals in the UK provide it, if they are full she could end up going to Germany.
Unfortunately, Mila’s Mum hasn’t been able to work and still won’t be able to work for some months yet and there are so many hidden costs as treatment continues, even just heating the house, this is why we’ve set up this page. We would be so grateful for your help, no matter how small to ensure that Mila gets the treatment and she so very deserves without any worry.
