Supporting Mom and Dad, both in Hospice

Hi everyone, this isn't an easy thing to write about, but I’m reaching out to share a heavy season our family is facing. Both of my parents, Robert Skytland (Dad) and Sherrie Stalsberg (Mom), are currently in hospice care facing separate end-of-life health challenges. My parents are not together and are in distinct care settings.
As you can imagine, navigating hospice care, arranging for in-home support and medical supplies, as well as pre-planning final arrangements can be both a significant financial and emotional burden.
How Funds Will Be Distributed:
I am raising funds to contribute to expenses our family is bearing on both my Mom and Dad sides, based on their respective care plans. This includes:
- Covering Immediate Out-of-Pocket Care: Specialized comfort supplies, including a medial bed & chair lift ($2,800), supplementary hospice caregiving and medical support expenses (~$2,500).
- Assistance with Travel Expenses: To support travel for my brother who is unable to travel without financial assistance to visit his parents and attend the funeral (~$1,000)
- Contributing to Final Expenses: Pre-planning and covering funeral, cremation, and memorial arrangements that is not planned for in advance (~$2,500)
Note on transparency: All funds raised will go directly into my account to be disbursed as needed to cover expenses for both Mom and Dad.
My primary focus right now is ensuring they are both as comfortable, peaceful, and supported as possible during their remaining time - and that the family members who are caring for them both are as supported as they can be. Any contribution, no matter the size, helps ease this financial load so I can focus on being present for both of them.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this link or keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers means the world to me.
On behalf of my entire family, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support.
With gratitude,
Nick
