Supporting Myra Salinas in her battle against colon cancer

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart but also with hope, for my dear friend Myra Salinas. Myra is facing the toughest battle of her life—a battle against stage 4 colon cancer. This relentless disease has spread to her liver and lung and she is now preparing for a critical surgery on September 4th. Myra needs every ounce of love, prayer, and support we can offer.
Myra is not just another person fighting cancer. She’s a devoted mother, a loving daughter, a cherished sister, and a dear friend to so many of us. As a single mom, she has always put her family first, giving them everything she could, even when it meant sacrificing her own needs. Now, it’s our turn to give back to her.
Her journey began on January 22, 2024, when doctors discovered the masses that would change her life forever. Just days later, on January 31st, she received the heartbreaking diagnosis. Since then, Myra has faced her cancer with a strength and courage that is nothing short of awe-inspiring. She started a grueling 12-week chemotherapy regimen on February 26th, a day already marked by the deep emotions of her mom’s birthday and the anniversary of her dad’s passing.
After completing eight rounds of chemotherapy, Myra had to modify her treatment plan due to a reaction to one of the main drugs. Although she bravely continued with the altered regimen, a recent CT scan revealed that her cancer is no longer responding to the chemotherapy. Her medical team decided to stop the treatments after nine rounds, instead of the originally planned twelve, to focus on surgery.
The road ahead for Myra is long and filled with challenges. The surgeries she faces are complex and risky—she’ll undergo a hemicolectomy to remove part of her colon, which, thankfully, responded well to the chemo. However, the situation with her liver is much more challenging. In addition to a liver resection to remove the affected areas, she will have an HAI pump installed to deliver continuous chemotherapy directly to her liver, as the cancer is still active there and in her lung. Myra will also have her appendix and gallbladder removed during the surgery.
These treatments are not just physically demanding—they are financially overwhelming. The costs of chemotherapy, surgery, medications, and ongoing care are staggering. Myra should be focused on her health and recovery, not on the financial strain that comes with it.
Myra has always been there for others, offering her love, support, and a helping hand whenever it was needed. Now, she needs us. This GoFundMe campaign is a way for us to stand by her side, to help alleviate some of the financial burdens that this cruel disease has placed upon her.
Every donation, every share, and every prayer means the world to Myra as she fights to overcome this challenge. Let’s come together, rally around her, and make sure that she knows she’s not alone in this battle.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your kindness, generosity, and unwavering support during this incredibly difficult time.
