Supporting Noor's Life in Canada

Donation protected
My name is Noor Falah Ogli. I am 30 and came to Canada in 2018 under unimaginably difficult circumstances. I was born in Damascus, Syria, I grew up in wartime, living with my family in refugee camps and survived a bombing at my university.

I have a degenerative disease called CMT2A that has robbed me of the use of my legs, hands, and feet. I desperately required medical treatment that was only available in Canada.

Myself and my mother, 67, and brother, 38, settled in Saint John in August 2018 thanks to generous assistance from private sponsorship of a local church group. The same week that my family arrived in Canada, my father died. Which left my two older brothers behind in the war zone.

Starting a new life in Canada under such sad, difficult circumstances been a long, difficult adjustment process -

Finally in August 2019, I was thrilled to find full time work at the Wyndham contact centre in Saint John. I had been at the job for two months when I learned that I was eligible to receive two long-awaited corrective surgery on my right foot. But the surgery came with painful complications....

While the initial operation succeeded in straightening my twisted right foot -It also necessitated a major skin grafts - a painful, serious surgery that resulted in a stay in intensive care.

I have gone from a life of relative independence - able to work, get groceries, and be the breadwinner for my family as they learn English and find work. To being housebound and dependent on my aging mother to eat, move, and use the washroom. Due to the painful complications of my previous surgery I am unable to go outside freely like I was before as my foot cannot take the bumps and uneven road conditions in the city due to its extreme sensitivity. My life has been forever changed and I will never have the freedom to move as I once did.

My family relies on Social Assistance to pay for expenses, and on public transportation to get to medical appointments and other essential services.
It's unclear when I will be able to return to work.

Noor and her family are incredibly grateful for all the help they have already received.
They know there are many people in Canada who are also sick and living in poverty. But in order to get through this difficult time in their lives, they need support.

Noor and her family are hoping to raise $9,000 to help with expenses and possible transportation during this time.
Any support you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
