Supporting our friends, Lee and Carlene Adams

Hi, All. Most of you will be aware that our friend and the long-time caretaker of Bon Portage Island, Lee Adams, was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier in the fall. Contained to one lung, Lee has opted for radiation and chemo-therapies. He started those treatments in Halifax in early January, and is expected to be having daily treatments for 6 weeks. Carlene and Lee's sister are taking turns staying with him through the week (all of them staying at the Sobey Cancer Support Centre at 5826 South Street, Halifax, NS, B3H 1S6). Lee is home on weekends. He remains in good spirits, and is feeling well.

I have had some inquiries about assisting Lee and Carlene on this journey. They obviously enjoy hearing from folks, so feel free to drop them a note if you can, or call (Lee has his cell phone - contact me if you want his number). Or if you are in the Halifax area, contact them about a visit. However, we have talked to them about some financial assistance to help with ongoing travel and accommodation costs related to treatments and medical appointments, as well as all of the little and big things that cost. They have agreed to this, so we decided a go-fund-me campaign might be the easiest way to go forward. Know that they are having good support from their Shag Harbour/Barrington family and community, but we would like to show them some love and support from their broader Bon-Portage/Acadia community of friends and acquaintances. They have been generous and welcoming to all of us over many, many years, so if you can make a financial contribution, please do so. We have set a goal of $2000 rather arbitrarily (because the system needed it), but I'm sure any amount will be appreciated. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
