Supporting Pastor Kang Shin Wook's Family

Dear Friends and Supporters:

With heavy hearts, we share the sudden and tragic passing of Pastor Kang Shin Wook, a cherished husband, father, and revered member of our community. At the tender age of 35, Pastor Kang unexpectedly departed due to heart failure, leaving behind his wife, who is seven months pregnant, and their two beloved daughters, Sua (6) and Lua (2).

This unforeseen loss has caused immense emotional and financial strain, particularly as it occurred while the family was visiting relatives in the Philippines. The weight of these unexpected circumstances has compounded their distress.

Additionally, Pastor Kang Shin Wook is the brother-in-law of Pastor Hwa Jin Kim, whose family our church small group has been supporting in their mission work in the Philippines. Pastor Hwa Jin Kim, along with his family based in Alabama, where he is pursuing his Ph.D., had to fly to Korea to attend the funeral urgently.

As a missionary family and students, they face financial difficulties covering the unforeseen expenses of traveling to Korea and are struggling to gather funds to return to Alabama. This added burden jeopardizes their educational pursuits and missionary endeavors.

Your contributions to this campaign will provide crucial support for both families. Funds raised will aid Pastor Kang's grieving family with funeral expenses and medical bills and help alleviate their financial strain during this challenging period. Furthermore, your generosity will assist Pastor Hwa Jin Kim's family in their return journey to Alabama, ensuring they can resume their educational pursuits and continue their vital missionary work without undue financial hardship.
