Supporting Rob Laakso and Family

A NOTE FROM ROB + MC:

Dear family & friends,

Thank you for checking in on us, and thank you for your patience, love and steadfast prayers.

Things have changed rapidly over the last several weeks and now we are out of treatment options. The challenges of dealing with a rare cancer have been frustrating and seem like they will only continue to become more difficult and devastating.

For now, we will be focusing on detoxing from two years of particularly harsh chemo (much longer than the average for that type of treatment), radiation, nonstop doctor appointments, pharmacy runs, etc., and will submerge ourselves exclusively in slow living in the spring sunshine with our children and some guitars.

It’s been nonstop, high alert, around the clock for months. We are very tired but we are extremely grateful for this opportunity now to just BE.

I’ve taken medical leave from work to be full-time caregiver for Rob and Rob has stopped working in efforts to focus on his healing. With that both of our regular incomes have ceased. There are still so many expenses involved regardless of great insurance — it’s really wild and daunting. We are fortunate to have help from our families. However, at this point we can see the possibility of soon draining our savings and are worrying about current and future expenses. If you are comfortable showing support financially at this time, it would be most appreciated.

We also could use joy. However you can send it - snail mail, email, text, a video of yourself or something you find amusing, a song that made you think of Rob. No offering of joy is too big or too small, and will be so gratefully received.

It feels so strange to ask for help and it took us a long time to raise our hands but we are here now. Thank you for lifting us up along the way and please continue to keep us in your prayers.
