Supporting Samah's family to survive the war

My name is Samah, and here's a short video of me sharing our story - please watch:

My name is Samah Ghilain, I’m 26 years old, and I’m a language teacher from Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip. My husband, my 23 month old baby boy and I are all displaced and living in a tent now, after our home was bombed and destroyed by the Israeli occupation.

Our Goals You Can Help Us Achieve

1. Evacuate

Samah, Hesham and baby Hammoud to Egypt. We pay the Hala Company to co-ordinate our evacuation. This will cost about $20,000 including all fees and passports.

2. Support

Samah, Hesham and baby Hammoud for housing and basic living expenses, once they are in Egypt. $50,000.

3. Survive

In the meantime, we must survive. Approximately $30,000 will go / will have gone on our daily survival here in khanyounis . Food prices are extremely high. Plus also to pay for Hammoud's medication, for his consistent infections, and this amount includes ongoing medical care and recovery once we are in Egypt.

4. Rebuild

Home rebuilding with the remaining donations will be forwarded to rebuilding my destroyed home.

We were displaced to the tent below, not suitable for living and cramped conditions sharing with another family.

On a cold winter’s day in December, we heard news that we must evacuate our home, and I fled on foot, breastfeeding my baby Hammoud as I went, without anywhere to go.

Imagine fleeing your home due to constant bombings, then living in a tent, only to discover your apartment destroyed on the 68th day of this g e n o c i d e. This below is our home before and after the bombing.

Danger and death surrounds us all day and all night. We have lost everything and are relying on donations to survive the everyday and - most of all - to have any hope of escaping this genocide and evacuating to safety in Egypt.

The daily costs of living continues to skyrocket in Gaza - imagine that a pack of baby's diapers cost $100, a chicken costs $35 (if you can find it) and a kilo of onions cost $30.

Evacuation (via the Hala Company) will cost a minimum of $17,000 for our family of 3, and we also need basic living expenses when we arrive in Egypt, where we will start from nothing.

From the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful for anything that you can donate to my family and I, to help us have a chance at survival.

My biggest heartbreak is to witness my baby sick every few days from the polluted water and food, and not knowing if he will even have a future. We have no idea what awaits us here in Gaza anymore. The bombing is intensifying, a ground invasion is imminent, and grief and devastation surround us.
