Supporting Schettler Family Children
Donation protected
One of our soccer families has suffered the sudden and devastating loss of their husband and father, Matthew
We’re raising funds to give the kids a sense of normalcy and consistency through their much-loved and supportive teams as they navigate their new world.
We want to make sure Christian, Michael, and Katie have the opportunities to continue playing sports this season. Matthew and Lindsay often spent weekends apart – one on soccer sidelines, one on baseball bleachers. Matthew knew that putting his kids in sports was not just for playing a game; it was to build character, surround the kids with teammates working towards a goal (sometimes literally!), deal with adversity, and build life-long friendships. As a former Marine who served his country with honor, Matthew knew the importance of teamwork well.
Christian, 13, is a phenomenal soccer defender that his club teammates proudly nicknamed “The Bull”. 11-year-old Michael is a 2nd baseman who plays travel baseball. At 7, Katie is still figuring out where her passion lies – be it in dance, gymnastics or soccer. She was recently selected for the all-star soccer team and proudly played goalkeeper. All three kids share Lindsay’s love of fitness and activity and are currently training for a local kids' triathlon.
Their mom, Lindsay, would sit at Christian’s soccer games while watching Michael’s baseball games via online feed; Katie would practice her gymnastics or find another group of kids to kick a ball with, or sometimes just chat with the other moms about whatever had caught her interest.
Christian, Matthew and Katie are the kids you want your kids to befriend. They’re kind and smart and funny and tenacious in all they do. All funds will go toward club fees, uniform and equipment costs, and travel expenses, both for this upcoming season and beyond.
