Supporting Tanya through Surgery and Recovery

On June 17th, 2022 our sister Tanya had an unexpected event that changed everything. She was out with her dog when she felt a “pop” in her head. Everything slowed down and she couldn’t speak or move her hands. Luckily her husband was with her and took her straight to the ER, which was a lifesaver because of how quickly they got to the hospital. Tanya was rushed to a hospital in Iowa City by ambulance where they found out she had a stroke followed by seizures. She was in a coma for 2 1/2 days, no one knew how she would be after she came out of her coma. Thankfully she only had a few residual effects from her stroke, but they had to remove part of her skull to help with swelling and to remove an aneurysm. She needed to stay 2 additional weeks in the hospital before she could come home. She has not been able to work since June 14th, due to the still missing part of her skull, she is scheduled to have surgery on October 5th to replace the missing bone in her skull with a plastic replacement because the original part they removed was contaminated. She will be able to return to work in mid-December if everything goes well.
