The Banderas family recovery

Hi, I’m a close friend to the Banderas family and I’m creating this page for friends and family to be able to come together from near and far to support them through the trauma of what this past weekend has brought to their family of 5.

On Friday (4/22) morning, their 5 year old son Kai was involved in a car accident with his nanny and one other child. The infant was kept safe in their car seat, the nanny is suffering from broken ribs but is also okay, and Kai suffered the worst of the trauma. The car was literally split into two pieces, and Kai’s car seat was ejected from the car.

Kai was helicoptered to Portland with his mom (Elizabeth) to get the immediate care that he needed, the injury primarily concentrated on his face and head.

Thankfully, the family is now home together and recovering after an exhausting and extremely traumatic weekend. Kai will need weeks of constant care and an intensive skin regimen + plastic surgery moving forward. His right frontal muscle was destroyed which means he won’t be able to lift that eyebrow region and will have droopiness as he ages.

If you know the Banderas family at all, you know that they are some of the biggest cheerleaders in life you could ask for.
