Supporting the Bourgeois Family as Beau Battles Cancer

This GoFundMe account has been initiated by friends of the Bourgeois family. Funds raised are intended for the Bourgeois’ to use as needed during this time.
Beau, the 6-year-old son of Greg and Hannah Bourgeois, was diagnosed just before Christmas 2024 with colon cancer after a colonoscopy revealed a polyp. Beau had surgery on January 10th to remove a section of his colon that contained the cancer. After pathologists looked at the tumor plus surrounding lymph nodes, they determined Beau's colon cancer to be stage 3 since it invaded deeply into the wall of his colon and had made it to a nearby lymph node.
In order to completely treat his cancer, Beau will undergo chemotherapy, starting February 7th. He will have infusions of chemo every 2 weeks for 3 months, then they will check a blood marker to see if any cancer exists in his blood. If no cancer is found, he will be done with chemotherapy. If cancer is found, 3 more months of chemotherapy is planned. After all of the chemotherapy, Beau will be closely watched by both the oncologists and GI Dr. at Children's Hospital of AL. This will mean many scans and lots of bloodwork.
The Bourgeois’ received more heartbreaking news shortly after making preparations for treatments. On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Beau had a a Brain MRI. The Brain MRI is part of the whole-body scan needed before starting chemo treatments. The MRI revealed a tumor in the frontal lobe of Beau’s brain. Based on the size and shape of this tumor, his lack of symptoms, and the MRI features, it is thought to be a low-grade glioma and unrelated to the colon cancer. It was also determined Beau has a genetic disorder that causes him to be more susceptible to various cancers.
Given that he will start treatment for the colon cancer soon and the stable findings on the MRI, Beau’s oncologist will manage the brain tumor with close observation and repeat scans in 3 months. They will have a low threshold to treat it more aggressively with any changes.
The following was taken from a CaringBridge post by Hannah:
“God has been so good to us through this trial, caring for us with each step. We sense His peace, and we are grateful to Him for His preservation of Beau and the perseverance He has provided him. While this news is heavy, we are grateful we serve a God who promises to be with us and whose burden is light. Our middle daughter continues to remind us that God is shaping Beau's life and his story according to His perfect plan. Although we might wish we could write things a bit differently, we know that His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His ways higher than our ways.
We are so grateful for all the prayers, verses and encouragements shared with us in so many different avenues and outlets. We give thanks that Beau is feeling good, and we know that is a kindness from God that we don't take for granted. Kids are amazing!”
Pray for Beau as he starts treatment this week: for it to be effective with minimal side effects.
Pray the brain tumor to remain stable.
Pray for the treatment plan, that it would be successful to cure Beau's cancer.
Pray for strength to endure.
Pray for steadfast faith in our sovereign God.
Lastly, here is a specific prayer request from the Bourgeois family: Pray that God uses this trial to His glory and that we will all know it.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”
