Supporting the Dougherty Family

My name is Brenda Rickard, and Raleigh and my husband Danny are cousins. This GoFundMe is for the support of Raleigh Dougherty and his family. Raleigh was diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver disease, Cirrhosis, and Colon Cancer in 2018. His cancer was surgically removed at that time, and he has been treated for cirrhosis for the past 4.5 years. During this treatment, he has undergone numerous appointments, labs, procedures, scans, MRI’s and surgeries to keep him alive until he could receive a liver transplant. Since September 2022, his condition had declined dramatically, but he was told it still could be months before the transplant. Miraculously, he was notified on Thursday, November 10th, at 6 am that he would receive a donor liver that afternoon. He is currently recovering from the transplant at UAB.

Raleigh will be in the hospital for several weeks. One of the drugs Raleigh is taking post-transplant will significantly compromise his immune system, so he has to stay away from people for at least one month. The expenses of having a liver transplant can be unexpected and costly. If you are able to support the Doughertys at this time, your gift would be appreciated.
