Supporting the family of Gilberto Rodriguez

Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,

My name is Juan Nunez aka "Tito", Gilberto's grandson. Today, I will talk about my Grandpa, Gilberto Rodriguez, born on October 28, 1935, he was 87 year old. Gilberto Rodriguez, my Grandpa resided with myself as well as my mother Marisol Rodriguez. I'm writing this today to let everyone know about the loss of Gilberto Rodriguez aka "Jimmy the Painter". Not sure if many of you knew, but my Grandpa's health began to go downhill late last year in 2022. He was constantly in and out of the hospital until the Dr.s could no longer give him the care and comfort he needed and was immediately put under Hospice Care at his home where he resided with myself and his daughter in Pennsylvania. I will never forget the look on my Grandpa's face when we visited the Dr.s office for the last time in October 2022. The Dr. told my Grandpa that he only had 6 months or less to live. Imagine the heartbreak for my Grandpa, finding out that his time was limited due to Congested Heart Failure, Lung Disease, Stage 4 Kidney Disease and Diabetes. He was heart broken and became devistated and depressed and had no desire for anything. My mother and I tried to keep his hopes and spirits up but he started to become weak and losing hope in life. As we approached into the New year, we hoped and prayed for change but unfortunetly he began to have a loss in his diet, barely able to walk & talk and suffered severe discomfort and weakness overall. He was tired and in pain all the time and told us he couldn't anymore, that he just wanted to rest. My mother and I worried because we weren't mentally, physically, emotionally nor financially ready let alone prepared for what was to come.

On Sunday, February 19, 2023 at approxmiately 11:53am, warm in his bed at home, my Grandpa gave up his fight and decided to finally rest in peace. Prior to taking his very last breath, my Grandpa was surrounded by myself, my mother and his nurse as well as his son Jimmy on Facetime. I assured him that the family will come together to honor him and his wishes of being cremated and rest assured him that we will be ok. Truth is that we are absolutely devistated by his passing and are struggling to find the funds to cover the costs for his funeral service.

I want Gilberto Rodriguez, my Grandpa to be remebered for the amazing and hardworking man that he was. He was a very well known man, very popular and best known as Jimmy the Painter. He had a huge heart and loved his family and grandchildren, but more then anything, my Grandpa was a beautiful person in and out, with a pure heart and soul who managed to spread joy and happiness wherever he went. In such a hard time of despair, the only thing that brings a smile to my face and gives me comfort is knowing that my Grandpa is now pain free and has finally reuinited with his loving wife, Emine Negron, brother Leopaldo Rodriguez aka "Tio Tony", his sister Lucy Rivera, aka "Titi Mia", his son Tito Rodriguez and his daughter Maritza Harris and are all watching over us.

My heart is torn to peices because I never thought I'll be planning a funeral for a loved one, let alone my Grandpa, the man whom raised me to be the man that I've become today. This has been the hardest thing I have experienced in life, but as much at it hurts and as hard as it will be, I intend to keep my promise to him, to keep pushing forward and that we will overall be ok. So today as I prepare for his Funeral arrangements, I'm asking and pleading for help to cover for his Funeral costs.

I've started a fundraiser with GoFundMe to collect donations for Gilberto Rodriguez, my Grandpas funeral service.
