Sad news spread across Hillsboro this past week as word of the passing of Jesus Moises Paez Gomez came out.  He was known to many in Hillsboro as Chuy.  He was well-loved in our community and had just helped his wife, Magnolia Fuentes Ramos, open her new store on Main Street in Hillsboro, Magnolia's Creations.    His death resulted from a head-on collision on July 8th in Wasco County on Highway 26.  A passing car hit him and his family head-on at high speed.  His wife Magnolia, their 4-year-old son, and another passenger were all injured and transported to hospitals. The crash caused the highway to be closed for 5 hours in both directions.  This was a tragedy from which Jesus could not recover.  He will be missed terribly and the family and community are devastated.

Days later, Magnolia and the family are working in their new store on Main Street and are unsure of the path ahead.  Their son, Jesus, turned 5 this past Tuesday.   He is among the sweetest young kids you could ever meet. One thing is certain; life will never be the same.  The store and the family will need the support of our Hillsboro community.  In speaking with Magnolia, who graduated from Liberty High School in 2012, the first order of business is to give Jesus a proper burial and pay for those bills.   As a downtown Hillsboro Community business owner, I am stepping up with the approval of the family to ask for your help.  We will quickly raise $3,000 for the families' funeral expenses and hope we can surpass that to support them and the business as we advance.  Please share this story with your friends as soon as you are able.  100% of all funds will go to Magnolia Fuentes Ramos.
