Supporting the family of Michael Engler

Donation protected
On January 5th, 2022, Amy Engler (Smith), Mike’s Wife, brought Mike Engler to the ER because he couldn't catch his breath due to a brief illness. Mike has been on a ventilator since January 10th and receiving nutrients through a feeding tube while receiving dialysis simultaneously. Amy is working hard to manage Mike’s care while taking care of their 3 children at home. Megan (14), Lauren (10) & Jacob (6) are all attending different schools within the Clarence School District are involved in multiple extracurricular activities. Megan is in her church’s youth group and preforms in her church children’s program Forever Kids each week. She is also an excellent student and is a Girl Scout. Lauren is a competitive dancer at Releve Dance Company. She sings in the ABC Bel Canto Choir, is an excellent student and a Girl Scout. Jacob takes swim lessons. He has special needs and requires constant supervision.

What Amy originally thought would be a few day stay at the ER, has quickly turned into a few week continued stay in ICU. Costs and financial strains are not fully understood yet, yet they weigh heavily on Amy’s shoulders as she continues to fight for Mike’s medical care, care for her family and continue to work when possible at the Clarence Chamber of Commerce.

Through the powerful power of prayer, Mike is making small improvements each day, but still on a ventilator. He has had a few bumps in the road with a diagnosis of a stroke that could have done long term damage & kidney failure with continued dialysis. The doctors have told Amy to expect months-long of continued treatment & rehab.

Mike is an incredible husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, & uncle, who has impacted so many lives through various religious outputs. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He’s kind, generous, patient & loves music and the Buffalo Bills. You could often times find Mike belting out to a Beach Boys tune with a big smile on his face.

People have been asking what they can do to support Amy and the kids. We created this gofundme page as an opportunity to support the family as they transition through this challenging time.
