I need help to provide transgender prisoners with the clothing, makeup etc needed to enable them to live 'in role' for a minimum of two years. This is the requirement of gender identity clinics before a diagnosis of gender dysphoria can be made. This diagnosis is needed before a serving prisoner can be placed on the N.H.S Transgender Pathway. My aim is to raise enough funding to allow me to provide transgender prisoners within the British prison system with both practical and emotional help. With the majority of transgender people within British prisons receiving no visits, letters or financial support from friends or family, self harming and suicide are common themes amongst a group of people who have often been denied the equal opportunity to receive treatment, because of poverty. The Transprisoner Alliance is determined to provide funding, letters and visits to this often demonized, ridiculed and humiliated group of people that is hidden within the British prison system.
