A message from Laddies wife, Cathie McCabe:
Dearest Family & Friends,
In Dec. of 2021 the love of my life went to the ER with pneumonia. While draining his lung they found a 4x6in cancerous tumor (myoliosarcoma- very rare, only 1% of cancers), stage 4. Drs did 12 chemo treatments and the tumor grew to 9x13in. On June 1st Laddie had extremely low blood pressure, so I called 911. While in the hospital for 24 days the tumor grew to the size of a watermelon and it began pushing against the left lung and his heart. Soon after trying the new chemo, he went into cardiac arrest and they had to do CPR to bring him back. After doing so, he was put on a ventilator and wasn't strong enough to be weaned off. For him, the pain became unbearable. At that time he was very alert and conveyed to me that he was ready to leave us. He was ready for his Mom, who recently passed on March 11th, to take care of him. On June 24, we made arrangements so our kids (Ryan, Cristin, and Brianna) and I could be with him kissing and holding his hands as he took his final breath. What a blessing.
We are at peace knowing he is no longer in any pain; but our lives are forever changed by his love. Laddie opted to have his body studied to hopefully advance cancer research.
Thank you to everyone who has already reached out to myself and the kids and for your kind messages asking how you can help us through this difficult time. The kids have decided to set up this GoFundMe (with the help of my niece) to help cover outstanding balances on Laddies accounts (including medical bills) as well as rent and bills to help me get back on my feet as I navigate this new road ahead. No pressure to donate anything if you are unable! We appreciate any shares of this page or prayers sent our way instead! Thank you for your kindness and understanding during this difficult time.
With love,
Cathie & the McCabe kids
