Supporting the New JPPilates Studio!

Donation protected
I've been teaching fitness in Boston for the past fifteen years. From large corporate gyms like Equinox to beautiful private studios like North End Yoga and Asana I have spent thousands of hours perfecting my craft inside these locations. I have been sponsored by Nike, Lululemon and even larger corporations. I have worked with professional athletes, celebrities and hundreds of people within our own neighborhood of Charlestown. All of this is to say that I am not new to the fitness industry but rather the gift of Pilates has traveled with me through every single phase of life.

During the pandemic I began teaching out of my living room and from scratch I created my own online Pilates studio. At the same time I was teaching outdoor classes at the Monument in the cold of the winter. We were huddled together from the wind, doing Pilates. Unfolding before me was a scene I could never in my wildest dreams  have imagined. And yet it turned out to be the most important time, when we all came together because we so desperately needed community.

I still feel a rush of emotions thinking about this season and how it transformed the way I think about our community. I didn’t know it in the moment, but looking back it was when everything changed. It was during this time that I promised myself I would continue to rise up as a leader in our community and grow. There was no going back.

But growing isn’t easy. Even when it’s right, it’s quite terrifying to go out on your own.

Fast forward to this past November. I was driving home with my husband after school drop off when I turned to him and blurted out, "I need my own space to teach in. I need an indoor location.” It just kind of came out of mouth and then there was no turning back. I’ve had this thought for years in my soul. But I never believed it in my head. Until now.
4 days later it happened.

On a whim I called a friend who is a fabulous realtor and I told her my ideas. I hung up and believed it would happen someday. But just like that, in this unicorns are real moment, it happened.

In just 4 days. She had found me exactly what I was looking for. Our space.

It happened so quickly that I wasn’t at all prepared. I asked the universe for a sign because I just couldn’t believe someone could declare their dreams and in an instant they could come true. As I was about to make a deciding phone call something caught my eye. A cardinal had flown to the window and sat with me.

Tears streamed down my face.

My Gram passed a year ago and I have always believed she comes to visit me in the form of a red bird. How fitting that in this very important moment she came to nudge me on. She had always been my biggest supporter. I absolutely knew she was telling me that I could do this. She sat with me on that branch as I said yes, let’s do this.
It has always been my dream to have my own space to create, connect, inspire and move with all of you! This dream came true faster than I could have ever imagined. I suppose the universe was trying to tell me something.

So what is this space?

Our space is a calm and quiet place where I can focus and teach online classes, connecting with students all over the country. Our space is a serene location where I can work one on one with clients who need privacy to focus and find connection, balance and peace. Our space is a safe place where new moms can come with their babies, for a much needed moment to move their bodies with their littles ones by their side. Our space is where neighbors can gather for a small group class and escape from the world. Our space is where everyone will always be welcomed. A community where the doors will always be open to help, support and lift each other up. This is my heartfelt promise to you.

This one time fundraiser is to raise funds to cover many of the expenses that go into starting a new studio. All of your donations will go directly to covering the cost of equipment, signage, rent and everything that comes with the first few months of running a new business.

With your donation you are supporting a tiny, local, female owned business. JPP has always been built on, for and by the community that surrounds it. Without you I never would have had the courage to open this indoor space.

I am so grateful for anything you can donate so that I can make this space a dream come true for us all!

With Sincere Gratitude,
Jenn
