Support the Shoemaker Family
Donation protected
On Tuesday, Jan 26th, Chris went out snowmobiling after work. He went alone, which was not uncommon for him. Around 7:30 pm, he called his wife Rachel in a panic saying he could not feel his legs and didn't know where he was. Chris hit a tree stump and flew 75 feet from the snowmobile. After calling 911, sheriffs were able to send out officers on sleds and located him. He was airlifted to Butterworth where he was told that he sustained 3 rib fractures along with shattering a vertebrae and had a severe spinal cord injury. They performed surgery to fuse a few of his vertebrae together and confirmed that his spinal cord was severed at T6. He has full use of his arms but cannot feel anything from his sternum down.
As one can expect, Chris is unable to work and is incurring significant medical expenses. Donations for the Shoemakers will help aid in the relief of medical expenses, changes to be made for a handicap household, a wheelchair van for transport and bills.
Rachel and Chris are overwhelmingly grateful for any contributions in support of their current situation.
