Supporting the Southall Family

Dear Friends and Family,

My name is Aeniah Southall and I hope this message finds you all in high spirits and good health. I am the eldest daughter of Andre & Alaina Southall and I created this second GoFundMe on behalf of my father (and family) who is facing a tremendously difficult time. My father has always been known for his resilience and the ability to overcome adversity, but now he needs our collective support more than ever.

Just under a year ago, the dedicated breadwinner of our household, Andre, sustained a very intense hospitalization where it was discovered that his previous diagnosis of CML progressed to AML. This was the beginning of a new way of life for my father. *see note at bottom* From December 2022 going into March 2023 he was in and out of the hospital getting prepared for a stem cell transplant. The doctors stressed this procedure was a critical step towards his recovery & so my father went through with the stem cell transplant March 21, 2023. While the transplant has given us hope for a brighter future, the road to recovery has been long and arduous.

Although the cancer is in “remission”, it is almost as if the cancer has been traded out for a new set of issues. Leading up to the stem cell transplant, my father underwent a grueling process of receiving intravenous chemotherapy and treatments that essentially stripped his body & organs of life.

Since March 21, 2023 there have been countless health scares and hospitalizations to investigate the possibility of graft vs host disease/ infections, etc. The most recent being about a month ago where my father acquired a stomach infection that has left him 50 lbs down from his normal weight due to not being able to hold any nourishment down. This is the lowest (not only physically but mentally) I have ever seen him.

Throughout this journey, my family has faced numerous medical bills and other unexpected expenses. As we continue to navigate this difficult path, we find ourselves in need of financial assistance to cover the mounting costs of treatment, medications, and everyday expenses.

My father has always been a pillar of his community and instilled in us to offer a helping hand whenever possible. Now, we find ourselves in a position where we must humbly ask for assistance.

Your generous contributions will directly impact my family’s ability to focus on my father’s recovery without the overwhelming burden of financial stress. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in our lives.

**(There was a previous GoFundMe set up by my mother to help cover the initial costs of everyday expenses & the absence of my fathers income which we are so grateful for, however we did not foresee needing more assistance which is why I created this one.)
