Supporting the Ward Scott family

For a family like the Scott Family, it is hard to ask for help and even harder to ask for financial support. They are a private family and so we are not asking for  this support lightly.  For those who aren't aware, we will let Tiffany's beautiful words from a recent Facebook post explain:

August 27, 2020
I don’t share many things on Facebook, nothing serious mostly happy silly moments in our lives. But this felt to important to not share. Especially as we go into the new normal of our lives with Callie.

We brought Callie to Baystate Franklin ER on Monday, August 17th after having a fever and belly pains over the weekend. Callie also developed little bruises (petechiae) scattered all over her body. I remember thinking “well this will be a waste of time” and that we would be told it was a viral illness and we needed to wait it out. About 30 minutes after Callie had her bloodwork taken a doctor came in and said they needed to speak with me and pulled me into a separate room. Of course, my heart dropped. I was told they were highly suspicious of her blood counts, that she was very sick and we needed to be transferred to Baystate in Springfield immediately. We confirmed on Wednesday, August 19th that Callie has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

She has undergone numerous blood tests, a bone marrow aspiration, X-ray and a spinal tap. Been on fluids and antibiotics. Received blood and platelet transfusions. She had a portacath placed and received her first chemotherapy treatments into her vein as well as her spinal fluid. This is only in the first 7 days of her diagnosis. We left the hospital one week after being admitted but will be back many many times.

We are heartbroken and terrified of the journey ahead. Also humbled and grateful for the support we’ve received from friends and family. We wish we could spare her the difficult times ahead but we will stay strong. Because Callie is strong.

For the next 3 months,  Callie will face the toughest stretch of treatment, receiving her Chemo 4 times a week. Tiffany has come to the end of her paid leave and now hopes to work 2 days a week for the next 6 months. This would allow her time to be there with Callie as much as possible. Callie's treatment will be at least 2.5 years, so this is just the beginning of a long road that will create significant financial hardship for their family, on top of the stress of the diagnosis, treatment, and life during  COVID-19.

Many people have asked what they can do to help, so we are asking for donations of any amount to support this amazing family through what will be a tough few years.

If donating through this page isn’t something you are comfortable with, you can send a check directly to Tiffany.

Thank you so much for supporting Callie's fight, we truly can't say how much it is appreciated.

And most importantly, remember, Callie is Strong. <3
