Supporting the Women of Nepal

I am set to journey to the highlands of Nepal in October for an amazing volunteer opportunity with Inner Ocean. I will be going on this journey with 11 other amazing women to work collaboratively with the women in the villages in Sindhupalchok. We will be trekking together up through the highlands and working in the local villages providing holistic healthcare to those in need.

In 2018 Inner Ocean launched wilderness first aid and CPR training for Mothers in the Himalayan villages of Sindupalchok. Each Mother was given a certificate recognized by the Nepali government at the end of their training. Each Mother was given her own first aid kit and each village with its own clinic stocked with medical supplies.

As part of the commitment to this community and to these Mothers, Inner Ocean organizes and donates the required recertification for their training and resupplying their clinics and first aid kits annually. Part of the funds I raise will go to supporting these women and clinics to ensure this program continues.

We have also received a very special invitation to work in a girls rehabilitation centre in the Kathmandu Valley where they are in healing from being victims of sex trafficking. This is very special work and service and I am honoured to be a part of this. Many of these young women were trafficked between the ages of 4 and 12, and several of them wound up with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, STDs, and lasting trauma.

I truly feel so lucky to be allowed in the lives of these women, young girls and these communities. I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to work alongside them in caring for their community. It is a gift I will never be able to repay to these women, but I will do everything I can to honour their gift.
