Please Help Grandpa,

Grandpa is a retired minister who worked 30 years in Bern, Switzerland and spent much time in South Korea. He loved his job and was able to help many Christians in mainland churches and the underprivileged island churches. He had many kids in the Sunday school classes, young adults, and college students. His adult classes meant much to him, as did his church sermons. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer about 1 ½ years ago and now cannot continue his work. He has many therapeutic procedures and must take many pills. He also must inject himself daily with three to five Peptide and Mistletoe shots and should do acupuncture and therapeutic IVs.
We grandchildren love our grandfather and were quite saddened when we could not be with him as in earlier days.
Diagnosis
Grandpa’s oncologist said, "First, he should have radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and, if necessary, surgery. The surgeon said first surgery, then radiation and chemo. The surgeon did an exploratory operation, took stomach pictures, and said there was no metastasis so surgery would be ordered immediately. According to him, if cancer had metastasized, surgery could not be an option. The surgeon would remove about one-third of the stomach and part of the esophagus connecting the two. Grandpa said “no” to surgery and would look for another solution.
After his diagnosis, Grandpa Tom and Grandma Mary researched other options instead of this traditional medicine. If he did nothing, Grandpa could expect to live about two years. If he did the standard insurance-approved treatments, he could have a chance of living five years.
Cancer Center for Healing
Cancer Center for Healing/Center for New Medicine decided Functional/Alternative/Holistic medicine was their answer. They found the Cancer Center in Irvine, CA was the best in the USA and probably the world. "It is known for the most technologically advanced medical care and treatments that create positive results for many patients with various diseases. Preventative medicine is also the main focus. The center continually gathers new medical options, treatments, devices, and machines from all over the USA and the world. This makes it possible to treat cancer in one place instead of traveling throughout the US or parts of the world for treatments.
Grandpa spent 3½ months at the Cancer Center for Healing in Irvine, undergoing many medical procedures. He spent most of the day at the center doing many types of IV therapies, personalized fractionated chemotherapy, detoxification procedures, the immune system supports, Laser Therapy, Genetic Testing, PEMF, a special diet and parasite testing, only to mention a few.
Quality of Life
Grandma said the quality of Grandpa’s life is now good considering his ailment. He has no pain and can still carry-on daily activities. It is hard for Grandma to imagine what his life would have been like if he had had much of his stomach removed and then had it connected to the rest of his esophagus. That would certainly have had a great effect on how what and when he could eat. There would have been a long and painful healing process.
Unfortunately, Grandpa has not been able to continue with some of his medical routines because most of their savings have been depleted. He should continue with acupuncture for peripheral neuropathy and other minor afflictions. Financially it has not been possible, since this type of acupuncture and other procedures are not insurance covered. Also not covered are Vit. C infusions and other medical treatments. He is having more reoccurring medical problems now since he has had to reduce medical therapies. This is why he needs immediate financial help.
Helping Others
Since Grandpa was a minister all his life, he has enjoyed helping others also financially. However, his new medical journey has prohibited him from helping others as he did in the past. He enjoyed making small purchases or money gifts thus making friends and strangers happy. Of course, his travel plans have been curtailed as well as small luxuries; this he and grandma can accept.
Switzerland
Grandpa wants to go back to Switzerland where he was a minister for 30 years and visit family, friends, and parishioners. He played curling there for 30 years and wishes to visit his curling friends.
South Korea
Of course, grandma wants to go too! Grandpa spent several years in South Korea during and after his retirement ministering to one church in Seong Nam, a suburb of Seoul, and one in Mokpo. He was also a pastor in the mission field on Palgum Island west of Mokpo ministering to the many poor, disadvantaged island folk. His desire is to revisit his many friends, and Korean brothers and sisters. He is in the process of completing his second book on S. Korea, about his personal connection with this folk and their situation.
Alaska Wildlife Adventures
He was raised in Alaska and wishes to go back to visit family and friends. He has also written a book on Alaska, which tells about his escapades, including a sheep hunt, moose attacks, and moose hunt, a bear incident, Great Alaska Earthquake, Great Fairbanks Flood, Bristol Bay Sockeye salmon, and wildcat oil drilling.
Insurance
The time Grandpa spent at the Cancer Center has greatly improved his health. It is only too bad that health insurance covers only about 2% of medical expenses. Since this Integrative/Holistic Medicine and New Medicine is the future of modern medicine, they should definitely be included in all insurance. This is gradually changing but much too slowly. We hope in the near future Grandpa’s journey will help change this condition faster.
Grandpa spends about $8000 a month on medicine and procedures. It has been a costly cancer journey! His goal is to have complete cancer remission within two years. Some people think Grandpa has made lots of money with his books, but he has had less than $300 in royalties. Grandpa says he doesn’t want to say what his financial needs are, but I myself can see, substantial assistance is needed. Thanks for all your help. He says people can send what they can afford or what they find is right. If one wants to donate to a special cause one can also do that.
