Supporting Tony during his battle with stage 4 lung cancer

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Today, I am writing to seek your support for our work colleague and friend, Tony Jiang, who was diagnosed with lung cancer a few years ago. With your help, we can ease his burden and provide the financial assistance he needs to undergo alternative cancer treatments in the hope of stopping his cancer from progressing.

Words from Tony
"I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in August 2020. It was devastating and took a while to accept. Gradually, I realised it’s not the end of the world. I must carry on and live life to the fullest.

I’ve been learning about cancer and how to fight it since my diagnosis. My initial treatment was a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (oral tablet), which worked well for a long time. I felt generally well in the early stages and was grateful to still be able to work full-time and do most activities I used to enjoy.

As the saying goes: 'Where there’s a will, there’s a way!' I believe miracles happen every day, and I do my best to make each day count.

Fast forward to January 2024, my brain MRI showed that the cancer had spread to my brain, meaning the initial treatment plan was no longer effective. At least four spots in my brain were identified. In February 2024, I underwent three radiation treatments on my brain.

Since March 2024, I have not been feeling well. I’m constantly nauseous and suffering from cancer pains in my liver and bones, and coughing from time to time. With no other treatment options available, I was enrolled in a clinical trial and began chemotherapy in April 2024. After two rounds, my scans showed that the cancer was progressing again, so I had to stop the trial.

Currently, the doctors have exhausted all options to stop my cancer from progressing. It has now spread everywhere: to my brain, neck, spine, shoulder blades, hip bone, and more. Apart from the tumours in my lungs, I now have three tumours in my liver measuring 6cm, 6cm, and 2cm, causing significant pain and nausea. There’s also progression into my lower abdomen, making me feel full and preventing me from eating and drinking much.

My spouse will soon have to stop working to take care of me and our two little boys full-time. Our only income will be the insurance money I receive under income protection insurance provided during my employment with Software AG.

Unfortunately, Medicare doesn’t cover alternative cancer treatments, so I am uncertain about what lies ahead and how we will get through this struggle. It is an extremely stressful time for us."

Our Goal
With your generous support, we can help Tony and his family during this challenging period. Any contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference in his fight against cancer. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Any contribution will be put towards Tony's alternative treatment options.

Warm regards,
SoftwareAG Family
