Supporting Ukrainian refugees in Romania

My name is Andreea Sandu, I am a Romanian professional living in London, trying to spread the word to my network and beyond, in order to raise funds for the Ukrainian refugees that have arrived in Romania through the border control offices at Halmeu (in Satu Mare), Sighetu-Marmatiei (in Maramureș), or Siret (in Suceava).

 

My former classmate from Coventry University, and very good friend, Alex Blaga, who is currently living in Cluj- Romania, has been offering to help Ukrainian refugees that have arrived in Romania in the past days, by signing up to a Forum that mobilises volunteers to provide support on the ground (You can find the registration form here, if you would like to read more about it, and share it with relevant contacts: https://vladgheorghe.ro/en/volunteer-registration-united-for-ukraine/). Given the fact that the Forum does not accept any financial donations, we wanted to create this ‘Go Fund Me’ page as a means of contributing for Romanians abroad, as well as other people who would like to support Ukrainian Refugees in Romania, but cannot do so in person.

 

The funds we are raising will be utilised to provide temporary accommodation, food, essential items, or other relevant services to refugees that are currently staying in the north of Romania. In order to ensure that the funds are solely directed for the intended purpose, Alex will be liaising directly with the following charities that are currently providing support to Ukrainian refugees in the North of Romania: Romanian Red Cross (Satu Mare), Glodeanca Association (Sighetu-Marmatiei), MGM Association (in Suceava); and directing the funds based on the current necessities and priorities.
