Supporting Vida's Children

Dear family, friends and supporters,

My name is Karlton and I have set up this fundraiser on behalf of the children of my cousin Vida, who sadly passed away unexpectedly on Friday, the 7th of October. Vida is survived by her four children, Portia, Nikaisha, Sasha, and Nathaniel, and three grandchildren, who are all devastated and still coming to terms with the sudden loss of their Mum. Their grief is shared by Vida's siblings, Michael, Charlotte, and Edwina (seen in the 1st picture below), as well as the rest of our wider family.

Sasha and Nathaniel (on the right in the 2nd image below) are still in secondary school. If losing their Mum was not enough heartache to suffer at such a young age, then please imagine for a moment what it may be like to lose your mother, home, school, friends, city, and network all in one swoop. Everything you have ever known is being upended within a matter of weeks. Unfortunately for Sasha and Nathaniel, that is the reality they are facing as we no longer have the family network in London necessary to support them.

To ensure that her younger siblings are properly cared for, Vida's eldest daughter, Portia (seen in the 3rd picture on the left, stood next to her Mum), has courageously decided to take on the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings. Portia already has a young family to care for, so becoming the guardian for her younger siblings will be a tremendous task, one that she should not bear alone.

Portia is standing by her family, and I am asking you to join in with my family by standing by Portia. If you are able to, then please donate generously. We will be very grateful for any support you can provide during this difficult time.

Please see below for an itemised breakdown of the immediate costs that the family will need to pay for Vida's final farewell. Please also bear in mind that Portia will need to bear the relocation and ongoing maintenance costs for the younger children.
