Supporting Warrior Sara Bergman

Hello, my name is Kathryn Curtice; I have created this fundraiser to help with living expenses and medical bills for Sara Bergman while she completed her treatments for breast cancer.

Sara was diagnosed with Stage 3 Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma at the end of November and underwent surgery on December 29, 2022. She spent the last three months having bi-weekly chemotherapy treatment. On May 18, Sara started daily radiation therapy, which will continue for another 25 days.

Sara works as a Sr Administrative Assistant at San Jacinto College. She has continued work while undergoing these treatments, only using her sick days for doctor's appointments, therapy appointments, and a few days to recover from the side effects of the chemotherapy. Unfortunately, Sara is at the end of her allotted sick time and will soon have to take unpaid days off to complete her treatments.

I met Sara at the Camel Lodge in 1999; I was a broken and hopeless woman looking for help. Sara quickly became one of my go-to people and supporters. Her guidance, suggestions, and friendship have helped me become someone I am proud of today. Over the last 23 years, I have watched her do the same for countless other women.

In 2020, we founded a non-profit, Sisters In Recovery, Inc. (Sir House), to provide women with safe, affordable, sober living homes. Through her efforts, dedication to helping women, and commitment, we now have three locations and have provided services for 188 women. Of the 188 women, 102 are sober today.
