Supporting William Lumpkin and Family

Donation protected
William is a sweet, thoughtful, fun-loving nine-year-old boy. A few months ago, William started to experience terrible back pain. Having recently fallen at his sister Emily's birthday party, William's pediatrician attributed his pain to a pulled muscle.  When William’s pain only worsened,  his parents took him back  to the pediatrician for a follow-up appointment. At this point, the doctor realized this may be something much worse then a pulled muscle and sent William directly to the emergency room.  At the hospital, just two days before Christmas, William and his parents, Jack and Carol, received the shocking and devastating news that William has Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia.    Following his diagnosis, William was immediately admitted to the hospital to begin inpatient treatment.  The recommended treatment includes three different types of chemotherapy drugs, in addition to steroids, over the course of a month, followed by weekly outpatient treatment for the next two-and-a-half years. Many have asked how they can help the Lumpkin family.  William's inpatient treatment will be costly and Jack and Carol will need to take extended time off work.  Helping to relieve some of the financial burden so Jack and Carol can focus on being there to support William and not stress about how they will afford treatment or make ends meet will be incredibly helpful.William and his family have a long, hard road ahead of them.  William has been a champion fighter during his first difficult week at the hospital.  While many of us were home on Christmas, opening gifts with our loved ones, William was having a central line placed.  He has already undergone a spinal tap and bone marrow biopsy, with many more painful procedures ahead of him, yet continues to maintain his positive attitude and loving spirit.  Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated.  William still has many weeks of treatment ahead of him and the medical bills are already piling up.  Jack and Carol are the type of people that always go above and beyond for their friends and family and I hope, in their time of need, we can be there for them.
