Reviving The Arts At IMC

We believe that we need to create a safe space for the youth to artistically express themselves. We live in a pivotal moment in history where the voices of the underserved can and will be discredited. How can you play your part in making sure that these voices are heard?

Today the Independent Media Center (IMC) and the City of Urbana have developed a partnership that will reclaim our city's community center through an art-based dialogue.

We will bring in veteran artists from various disciplines to engage the youth and community. These artists will be leading workshops open to address cultural and social questions related to the youth, people of color, new Americans, unemployed, elders, and the disabled. 

Recently we have been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for $50,000 to make our vision a reality. One of the stipulations of the grant is that it requires matching funds. The IMC's portion of the matching funds needed to reach our goal is $5,000 to contribute to the grant and complete this journey. We are endlessly grateful for any amount that you can contribute towards this goal.
