In 2016, Patrice’s wife Marie was diagnosed with a desmoid tumor at 8 weeks of pregnancy. At 32 weeks of pregnancy, the tumor had grown too big and the baby had to be delivered early. Thankfully, the baby was born without complications in May this year. She is a healthy, beautiful and happy baby.
The surgery team could not do surgery of that size of tumor because it was big and needed to shrink it first. According to specialists, these types of tumor grow fast because of pregnancy hormones and shrink after delivery. However, after delivery a CT scan showed that the tumor had grown much bigger. Marie met the surgeon and his team, but they said they were not ready for surgery. They recommended that she starts Chemotherapy treatment.
Since May, Marie has been in and out the hospital for Chemotherapy which made her too weak to do anything. She did 2 cycles of Chemotherapy but none of it worked effectively . Now the surgeon team has decided to do surgery which will take place on Wednesday September 20, 2017. Patrice had to stop working in order to take care of his family . As you can imagine, the situation has impacted the family financially since Patrice has been off work for almost 6 months now.
Patrice and Marie are wonderful people who step up when others are need. Let us show them they are not alone and support them during this difficult time.
