“We believe it’s the things that we don’t choose that make us who we are.”

Selma, Scott and their 2 children, Forrest & Autumn, are people who have devoted their lives to a Christian life giving to their church and always trying to be a good example, as Christ is to them. They have devoted their lives to installing the virtues of generosity, authenticity and forgiveness into their college aged children. Both working at the same retirement home for seniors, she a devoted lifestyle coordinator seeing to the promotion of positive well-being of residents and he, the Manager and Operations of Facilities. Scott is a wonderfully kind, giving and gentle soul. He loves all those that surround him, and both Scott & Selma are true to their faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In 2013 Scott struggled with unexplained vertigo. After a hospitalization a lesion was found in his brain. Scott was asked to wait one year for Oncology doctors to determine if this was a growing lesion. In 2014 after extensive testing, MRIs, CT scans and blood work, he was diagnosed with a Grade 3 Glioblastoma. These are highly malignant, cancerous tumors that grow fast and spread quickly from Astrocytes (a star shaped cell). Tentacle like, the tumor grows into the surrounding tissue making the tumor impossible to remove. The goal of glioblastoma treatment is to slow and control tumor growth and improve quality of life.

On September 24th 2014 a craniotomy was done to remove the large tumor followed up with chemotherapy, radiation and constant bloodwork. Scott was able to continue working through 2014 as he was ready for a fight and feeling pretty good except for side effects from all of the treatments. He continued to do regular MRI’s to keep an eye on the tumor.

During Thanksgiving week of 2015 Scott started to feel very ill. He had started falling and after being admitted in and out of the hospital it was discovered that the tumor had grown aggressively. One month later on December 10th the Neurosurgeon completed another Temporal Lobe Craniotomy, and uncovered that the tumor had metastasized into the lining of Scott’s brain and was now a Grade 4. Scott suffered a stroke during the surgery and his family was told that Scott’s life expectancy was a year or less. At this time Scott and his family, through much prayer, decided not to go back to work and take the time to try and recover.

Since Scott’s surgery, he has been in and out of the hospital and rehab with 2 cases of meningitis, one case of pneumonia, continual falls and persistently weakens from this horrible cancer. He will attempt one more round of chemotherapy but without the mobility required to absorb chemotherapy he is not expected to continue to live much longer.

Through the support of their church and their faith Selma says she sees the blessings daily that help her to move forward one day at a time, one step at a time and one thing at a time. "We learn through challenge and we will find joy again".

She is now desperately trying to keep her children and herself from breaking. She is working as much as she can to keep her home, pay endless medical expenses, and keep her head above water, all while ensuring her husband that she will always be there for him every day.

This fund will be given to cover the Moberg family’s immediate expenses. Please know that “the heart that gives, gathers.” Your generosity is an expression of love the Moberg family needs. Through every donation that comes in, Scott will know that we are helping to care for his loving and devoted family. Please join me in gifting this family with the best investment you will ever make.

It is with much gratitude, we thank you for taking the time to read this, for holding the Moberg family in your thoughts, and for your kindness.
