Suprone Hang Gliding Harness R & D
Donation protected
My name is Jim Fenison but friends call me Sunny Jim.
The sport is Hang Gliding. I am 59 years old and have been Hang Gliding since I was only 13 years old.
The need is to make hang gliding both safer and more comfortable. I have been working for the past three years to do exactly that by developing an invention to allow pilots to fly in the foot forward position known as the "Suprone" position. I named my invention the Fenison FlyBar and there is a patent pending.
I have been using paragliding style harnesses for most of my experiments since there is currantly no harness in production made for Hang Glider pilots who wish to fly in the foot forward, suprone position.
To my dismay, I have not found any paragliding harness so far that are completely suitable. Please see the video posted 'Suprone Harness Considerations" for a more in depth explanation.
My invention, the FENISON FLYBAR is really of no use if there is no harness available for pilots to safely use it with.
The funds I am requesting will be used to book one week with High Energy Sports in Anneheim, CA. to make a Hang Gliding Style harness designed specifically for the suprone position a reality. Mike Berge, of High Energy, expressed confidence that we could accomplish that task withing that time frame, but I am padding the "go fund me" a tad in case more time is required.
I am also requesting enough funds for food, gas, and lodging, so that I, myself, can travel down to High Energy Sports and work alongside Jacob, thier lead harness maker for the entire week. Mike Berge has requested this and it just stands to reason since I am currently the only pilot worldwide flying in this position with my invention, the FlyBar.
I will then stay in the southern California area to wring out the new harness looking for problems and possible improvements to the final design so that you will have at your disposal what myself and the good folks at high energy consider the best possible suprone harness solution.
The inventing of a commercially available, "Suprone Specific Harness", will play a huge role in allowing the "FlyBar" project to also move forward.
Thanks,
Sunny Jim Fenison,
Inventor of the Fenison FlyBar, patent pending
