Surgery and Recovery for Jody Snow

Donation protected
Today I put this up for my Mom. She has done so much for me and there is not anything I would not do for her.

For over a year and a half she has been fighting problems with her foot so she would not need surgery. It started with her being stubborn, not wanting to bother her sons and daughter. Finally we went to the doctor and he was reserved. He immediately figured it would have to be surgery. Toes to half the foot. Mom wanted other options so we tried some treatments and had some help from the wonderful people at Corona Medical Center Wound Care.

And guess what it worked. Through diligent care of the doctors and family she turned the gangrene away to the point where her toes were no longer black. Two years of work. Just some simple care to make sure it kept moving in the right direction

Then just over a month ago it took a turn for the worse. With her diabetes constraining blood flow, mixed in with a medication change. Her foot and leg swelled. We switched meds back out but the damage was done. Her blood flow was damaged to the point that her foot felt cold. We went to the doctor and he referred us to a surgeon.

Once we saw the surgeon he took one look and said off to the ER with you surgery will be as soon as we can schedule it. Into the ER we went but then were told we have to let her go in by herself, there is no room for family in triage.

So, now at the time I write this, she is alone with 2 antibiotics being pumped into her, x-rays taken, waiting for a bed, and waiting for surgery in the morning.
The damage was bad enough to where they will be taking her leg just above the knee. She will be in the hospital for 4 days, aftercare for at least the same and then off to rehab for an unknown amount of time.

It will be a complete change of lifestyle for her and we will be having to make a lot of changes around the house to make it comfortable for her.

We do not now what her co-pays will come to or how much of aftercare and rehab will be covered by insurance. We know she will need a wheelchair or motor scooter to get around. We have already looked at a dozen changes in a 100 year old house for her comfort and ability to maneuver around.

So I have started this GoFundMe for anyone that wants to help. Every penny will going to take care of my mom and prepare for her return home.

I thank you now for all the prayers and well wishes we have already received.
