Surgery For Abandoned Pitbull Puppy
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Paul and I'm fundraising to pay for surgery for a found pitbull puppy with two broken legs. Maybe "found" is the wrong word, as witnesses saw a vehicle literally throw the dog into the street and speed away.
The poor guy was terrified and shaking, but immediately friendly and seemingly grateful, but to our horror we realized he could not walk.
After taking him in, bathing him and generally assessing him, the little pup otherwise seemed in good health despite his disability. We made an appointment with our veterinarian and took him in. After having him X-rayed, we learned that his back two legs were broken. The injuries were apparently old, and we were told one of his legs couldn’t be fixed and would have to be amputated. The vet informed us the other would require surgery but could be saved.
He is a pit puppy approximately 5 months old. We named him Midas because of his golden eyes! This is not an animal we will be able to keep, nor are these expenses we could possibly cover, but we want to do everything in our power to save him and find him a real home. We've reached out to several rescues, fosters, nonprofits and other organizations in the hopes they could help Midas, but so far have heard nothing from these places. Our fear is that the cost of these surgeries are simply too much for many of them.
Our veterinarian in Plano, TX gave us an itemized list of what we were looking at for the amputation - $957, minus any presurgery or post surgery costs and veterinary visits. The second surgery - to fix his other leg and let Midas live the rest of his life as a happy and healthy "Tripawd" - was given an estimate between $1800 - $2000.
We are aiming to raise $4500 to cover the cost of both surgeries, pre and post-op veterinary appointments, additional costs like vaccinations and neutering, as well as fees associated with GoFundMe. We hope that by covering these costs it will be easier to find Midas a forever home!
