Surgery for Brielle
Donation protected
Brielle was born in China with a clubfoot. When we adopted her, she was 14 months old and her foot was completely neglected. To date, she has had 30 casts and 3 surgeries. In early February, Brielle's brace broke because her foot is relapsing. Her surgeon in California is retiring, but she needs another surgery on her foot. As she grows and her body gets heavier, her foot is becoming more painful. She is a very unique case and we have been told that there is only one doctor in the world that has the ability to do this surgery on her. We need to travel to St. Louis, MO for Brielle to get her much needed surgery by Dr. Matthew Dobbs. She will need a series of long leg casts, two will be done in California by Dr. Nitza Rodriguez and two will require us to travel to St. Louis for Dr. Dobbs to do in early April. We will stay in Missouri for 10 days for the casting. Then we will return to St. Louis for 4 more days for the surgery. The surgery is scheduled for April 23. Our insurance will cover the cost of the surgery except for $5000. We will also need about $2000 for travel expenses. We are amazed at all of the doors that God has opened for us and all of the costs He has taken care of so far. We have gone and seen Dr. Dobbs and Brielle really likes him! We are happy to have this plan in place.
This is Brielle's chance to get her foot fully corrected and potentially have a life without foot pain or mobility issues. It will be a long road, she will need to be in a wheelchair and non-weightbearing for a month after surgery, then have intensive physical therapy to learn to walk again. She is a fighter and she is ready to go have this surgery because she knows that God will help her foot get better.
Anything that you can contribute will go directly to getting us to St. Louis and to paying for the surgery by Dr. Dobbs. Will you be part of her healing journey?
