Surgery for Cherry the much loved Greyhound

The beautiful greyhound Cherry had a terrible accident whilst competing in her favourite sport lure coursing and has torn her Achilles tendon in 2 places. To give her the best chance of recovery she requires specialist surgery to repair the tendon. Cherry is booked in for surgery at BVSc Specialist Centre at Albany creek on Tuesday 27/6/23. The quote for the surgery is $6-7000.

Cherry’s owner Leanne has already paid thousands for scans, specialist consultation etc but has said she will do anything for her baby girl and will eat noodles for a year, miss mortgage repayments, and go without just so this surgery can be done. I hope we can band together and help lighten the load on Cherry’s family to help relieve some financial pressure.

Cherry is an exceptional sporting dog, a dual champion who competes in multiple sports including agility, conformation showing, lure coursing, rally, obedience and tricks. This is no mean feat for a greyhound especially being so successful in each discipline. It would be a dream come come true if Cherry can return to some sports following her surgery and rehabilitation. Cherry loves her active life and we hope it can continue in the future.

We all understand the love we have for our pets and sometimes freak things happen unexpectedly , but when the dog community comes together it helps to ease the pain and makes us feel emotionally supported also. Leanne is utterly heartbroken.

Leanne is also undergoing expensive eye surgery herself in 2 weeks time - everything has come at once and I hope we can help with the financial pressure of Cherry’s surgery on top of this.
