Surgery for my Daughter Adina
Donation protected
Hello my name is Kimberly and I’m fundraising for my daughter. Adina has been battling a rare disease caused by diabetes for almost two years now. She is 42 yrs old and has had diabetes since she was 12 yrs old. It started in July of 2021 when she noticed her feet were feeling weird and that sensation has not stopped since. Her first podiatrist told her that there was nothing wrong with her and that it was in her head. She listened to that doctor even though her intuition was screaming something else! After a few weeks she went to see another podiatrist. This doctor gave her a shot that helped for about 3 weeks and then he released her to exercise and do normal activity. This was a mistake because she broke her foot completely in half and had to have emergency surgery in early Dec of 2021.
After the surgery she didn’t walk or put any weight on her foot for a little over 3 months. Once she was able to walk in a surgical boot she complained of pain in her left ankle (the foot she just had surgery on) and her right foot. After two MRI’s and much persistence on her part that something wasn’t right… she was told she has Charcots Neuropathy which causes the arch of the foot to collapse and the ankles to break as well.
She was told she would need to wear two surgical boots for about another year and then have two more surgeries and each recovery is a minimum of 20 weeks. She became very depressed and withdrawn for about 4 days and then just sucked it up in normal Adina fashion. She has not stopped working since all of this has begun, but she is starting to slow down a lot because the pain is just becoming more and more unbearable.
My daughter needs to have this surgery and it’s scheduled for the first part of Sept 2023, but it’s been scheduled many times in the last year and it keeps getting put off because she can’t make enough money to stay afloat for the time she will need to recover for both surgeries. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need and in fact has done it many times. Now it is her time for people to help her. She would never ask for herself and that is why I am doing it for her! The boots she wears are heavy and uncomfortable and she is in constant pain but she never gives up! For about the last year now she just tells people she was bit by a shark cause the actually reality of what is happening is too long to explain to 50 people a day who stop her because seeing someone walking with two surgical boots is so rare.
Anything you can donate is much appreciated. This surgery is so important and she’s running out of time! Her doctors say if she keeps putting it off she can do irreversible damage and potentially lose her feet. Prayers are also appreciated! God has been so good to her and protected her all this time! Thank you in advance for your contribution and please share! It only takes a second to share this on your social media and it can make such a huge difference.
