Surgery for my spouse

My wife has had declining health issues for around 10 years. We just finally found out the cause and she needs surgery to remove one or more of her parathyroid glands. The parathyroid glands regulate calcium and if one or more develop a tumor it secretes too much hormone and causes leaching of calcium from the bones and elevated blood levels of calcium.

The problem isn't one of how much free calcium is in circulation as it is a problem of how long it has been doing this. Since this issue has been going on for 10 years and only now is being diagnosed, the sooner we can get the surgery done, the better it will be for Malinda. She has developed hypercalcemia, stage 3 kidney failure, osteoporosis, and is potentially more likely to develop heart trouble and some cancers. 

To effect a cure for the excessive parathyroid hormone it is necessary to surgically remove the affected gland or glands. There are only a few highly qualified places in the United States for doing this surgery. We have located one in Tampa, Florida, but our insurance will not cover the cost of having this done. We need to get her there in the next two months, preferably.

We are seeking $15000 to cover all the expenses of the surgery and the trip to and from Tampa.

Any amount you may be able to donate will be greatly appreciated as this is a very time sensitive situation and the sooner we can get her treated the less the adverse effects of the over active parathyroid secretions will affect her.
