Surgery for Our Mountain Mama, Becca Gage

I’m Eliza! I met Becca years back at AB-Tech, and she literally helped me learn the English language while I attended one of the same night courses with her in college. She didn’t even think twice about it. I could speak and have conversations, but I had only lived here for not even 5 full years.

 

I have literally NEVER met another human who works as much as her. She’s constantly answering phones for her office job. She works with animals of the evenings for WNC Per Care, and she still helps out from time to time at Mosaic Cafè. She also started her own LLC last June, promoting organic skincare through A Ray of Soap.

 

She does all of this for her 3 year old boy, Landon Ammons. He’s the light of her life!! She works hard to provide for him, and she rarely complains. I’ve seen her give and give and give, when she rarely has anything for herself!!!

 

A few months ago, she was presented with the opportunity to have surgery to aid in helping her horrible symptoms that stem from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Since it was going to require a pretty penny out of pocket right from the start, she didn’t even proceed or mention further to anyone.

 

I realize she’s going to kill me for this, but she’s spent so many nights literally doubled over in pain; mornings and evenings where it was all she could do to keep her eyes open and make it to work all day, just to turn and work that evening; she would support a local cancer fundraiser or donation, even if she barely had anything herself- just to be supportive of a precious child. I have seen it first hand.

 

I created this to aid in supporting this medical expense for Becca, so she can actually have the procedure done and feel like a normal human being after all these years of battling what many don’t even realize is actually an auto immune disease.

 

She never does anything for herself, nor does she splurge on herself - and for Pete’s sake, this is for surgery and for her to recover for two weeks.

 

She will probably kill me for this, but it’s killing me to watch her stay silent and not tend to herself… when she’s ALWAYS looking out for everyone else.
